UCL Film & TV Society Muslims and the Media aims to explore both positive and negative representation of Muslims and Islam across the realms of both TV and Film. In each episode, Samiya will focus on a different genre of visual media, and look with more detail into the societal impact the films have had.
The first episode focuses on animated films, particularly Disney’s 1992 classic “Aladdin” and how it has marred the image of Muslims and Islam since its release.
