Over the course of this series we’re going to be looking at a range of cinematic genres and how films within these genres have been shaped made unforgettable by their soundtracks and scores. It’s often the first thing that comes to mind when we think of our best-loved-blockbusters. From fantasy to horror and Sci-fi to period drama. We want to find out what makes movie soundtracks and scores tick. Every month we’ll be discussing some of the most iconic musical moments, as well as surprising each other with a wild card that we’ve probably never heard of before!
This week we’re going to be looking at the soundtracks and scores of the fantasy genre and in particular Howard Shore’s score for Lord of the Rings and Javier Navarrete’s for Pan’s Labyrinth. We’ll be talking about some of the films’ most memorable moments and picking out some of our personal favourites from the soundtracks as well.
